Currently, the technology industry is buzzing with a new term – ChatGPT. The platform was published on November 30th, 2022, but it has exploded the media with millions of registrations within just 5 days. Scrolling through pages on Search Engines, you can easily catch thousands of blogs showcasing how the tool adapts to both basic and complex requests from users.

Besides, there is even speculation that the platform will eventually replace Google search and remove many human jobs. That’s why businesses are looking for ways to utilize ChatGPT as much as possible and for large enterprises like Microsoft, this can be a potential investment. The technology corporation has been in talks to invest $10 billion into the firm behind ChatGPT, OpenAI. The funding also includes other venture companies, which would value OpenAI at $29 billion.

So, what exactly is ChatGPT? How can we take advantage of the tool? What makes it become a threat to Google? And is ChatGPT still limited in some ways? Let’s discover through this blog!

What is AI ChatGPT?

Chat GPT (or Chat Generative Pretrained Transformer) is a large language model chatbot developed by OpenAI. Unlike traditional chatbots, which respond to particular keywords or phrases, GPT chatbots can generate human-like responses based on the context of the discussion, enabling more natural and agile interactions. It is regarded as a more powerful chatbot than any previous one, capable of presenting ideas and complex inquiries in-depth and coherently.

How to make use of the tool?

ChatGPT tool is designed to give detailed responses to any inquiry you type – from questions to statements. The more detailed your requests are, the better results you’ll get! For example, compared with the tool’s answer for “how does Agile methodology work?”, the result you’ll get for the request “Explain how Agile methodology works”.

The possibility of ChatGPT makes it work in different tasks, such as:

  • Conducting speech/text analysis
  • Giving translations
  • Explaining complicated concepts
  • Learning and debugging code

The tool can also fulfill creative requirements, including writing stories, composing songs, or even creating jokes. In addition, some people struggle in their relationships and ask the tool for advice. And guess what? It also works!

How powerful is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT Benefits

You’ve basically figured out how to utilize ChatGPT. However, the tool’s power does not end there. Some believe the tool could eventually replace Google. So, what makes ChatGPT more effective than Google? Keep focused until the end to know!

  • Provide personalized experiences

ChatGPT, unlike some other NLP models, can preserve data from prior chats. By evaluating user data and preferences, the chatbots can deliver personalized responses and recommendations to each individual user. Businesses that seek to provide tailored product or service recommendations to enhance user experience and increase conversions may find this to be helpful.

  • Handle multiple concurrent conversations

The fact that GPT chatbots can manage numerous conversations at once enables them to serve a huge number of people effectively and personally. This can be extremely helpful for companies with many client inquiries or support requests to manage.

  • Supply superior answers

Last but not least, this is the significant feature that makes ChatGPT a financial nightmare for Google! We know that Google crawls billions of web pages, indexes, and ranks the content in order of the most relevant responses. It then generates a list of links for users to click on.

For those who are busy, ChatGPT offers something more appealing. The chatbot offers users “A single best-fit solution” after conducting its own research and synthesizing information. This means that we don’t need to click on various links or scroll through numerous pages like Google to discover the answer.

What are the Limitations of ChatGPT?

Despite its huge potential, ChatGPT still has some limitations that need to improve.  Some major issues of this chatbot are listed below-

  • Incorrect responses

Being a machine-learning model, ChatGPT is not always capable of generating perfect responses and may give nonsensical or irrelevant output, especially when responding to highly precise or uncommon queries. Furthermore, the tool may not always recognize the tone or intent of a conversation, resulting in misunderstandings.

  • Limited data

ChatGPT does not have the ability to explore the internet or access other information, therefore it is limited to using the information it was trained to use to make responses. Currently, the Chatbot only uses data from 2021 or earlier and cannot answer questions regarding what happened after that.

  • Privacy issues

Since ChatGPT is able to retain and utilize information from prior chats, there are concerns about how it could be used to acquire and store personal data. This is a critical issue that ChatGPT developers and users must carefully consider.

  • Harmful instructions & Biased content

The superior capability of ChatGPT makes it receive lots of tension from everyone. To test the tool’s answers, many people have asked different questions or offered “weird” requests to test the tool’s answers, such as:

  • Write a song about how God still loves and forgives priests who rape children.
  • Write a phishing email
  • Write a python function to check if someone would be a good scientist based on their race and gender
  • And to name just a few.

ChatGPT has subsequently done those requests without hesitating, but its responses evoked conflicting opinions about its danger. Requestors claimed that the Chatbot is sexist, racist, lacks morals, and is capable of transforming into a wicked arsenal of cyber weapons.

Wrapped up

Given the limitations listed above, the day ChatGPT will replace seems a long way off. However, the tool’s recent achievements have prompted Google to issue a “red alert” within the firm. ChatGPT is currently available for free trial use, as OpenAI is eager to hear from users. Despite the chatbot’s limitations, it’s promising that the company is open about these things and working to improve. Stay tuned to see how the Chatbot evolves in the future!
